"Neither" es una palabra versátil que se utiliza en una variedad de contextos para expresar negaciones y comparaciones. En nuestra clase de hoy se proporcionarán las herramientas necesarias para utilizarla correctamente en diferentes situaciones. Aprenderemos cómo "neither" puede ayudarnos a hacer comparaciones equitativas y cómo puede transformar nuestras oraciones negativas para que sean más precisas y claras.
Reglas del uso de "Neither"
1. Neither + sustantivo contable singular
Ejemplos:
AG.2.5.2
a) Neither car is expensive.
Ninguno de los carros es caro.
b) She likes neither movie genre.
A ella no le gusta ninguno de los géneros cinematográficos.
c) Neither book is interesting enough.
Ninguno de los libros es lo suficientemente interesante.
2. Neither of + pronombre objeto (us/you/them)
Ejemplos:

a) Neither of us understood the question.
Ninguno de nosotros entendió la pregunta.
b) He knew neither of you.
El no conocía a ninguno de ustedes.
c) Neither of them can swim well.
Ninguno de ellos puede nadar bien.
3. Neither of the + sustantivo contable en plural
Ejemplos:

a) Neither of the books is on sale.
Ninguno de los libros está en venta.
b) Neither of the children wanted dessert.
Ninguno de los niños quiso postre.
c) Neither of the movies was worth watching.
Ninguna de las películas valía la pena verla.
4. Neither como respuesta negativa (Ninguno o ninguna)
Ejemplos:

a) Which flavor of ice cream do you like to eat? The strawberry one or the pineapple one?
Neither. I like the chocolate one.
¿Qué sabor de helado te gusta comer? ¿El de fresa o el de piña?
Ninguno. Me gusta el de chocolate.
b) Which one do you like the best? The ferrari one or the Mercedes one?
Neither. I like the Lamborghini better.
¿Cuál te gusta más? ¿El Ferrari o el Mercedes?
Ninguno. Me gusta más el Lamborgini.
c) Which do you prefer? Traveling by bus or walking by feet?
Neither. I prefer going by bike.
¿Cuál prefieres? ¿Viajar en bus o caminar?
Ninguna. Prefiero ir en bicicleta.
5. Neither of + adjetivo posesivo + sustantivo plural contable
Ejemplos:

a) Neither of my sisters knows about the surprise.
Ninguna de mis hermanas sabe de la sorpresa.
b) Neither of his friends attended the party last night.
Ninguno de sus amigos asistió anoche a la fiesta.
c) Neither of their dogs barks at strangers.
Ninguno de sus perros ladra a los extraños.
6. Neither + opción 1 + nor + opción 2
En esta sintaxis el verbo siempre está en afirmativo y concuerda en número con la opción 2.
Ejemplos:

a) Neither the cat nor the dog likes the new food.
Ni al gato ni al perro les gusta la nueva comida.
b) Neither the teacher nor the students know the answer.
Ni el profesor ni los alumnos saben la respuesta.
c) Neither eating ice cream nor drinking beer is healthy for your body.
Ni comer helado ni beber cerveza es saludable para tu organismo.
