Photosynthesis and Plant Growth
In green plants, the process of photosynthesis plays a vital role in producing glucose and oxygen. Chlorophyll is the pigment responsible for absorbing photons from sunlight. The chloroplast in the leaf contains the photosystem that carries out this essential process. The stomata on the surface of the leaf allow the intake of oxygen and the release of carbon dioxide. Mike has been studying how long chlorophyll has been absorbing photons in the leaf. He has been researching it for three months. Peter, a receptionist, called Mike before, showing him some diagrams that explain how long it takes for the photosystem to produce glucose. Those diagrams are very helpful because they illustrate everything, showing the connection between light, chlorophyll, and glucose production. Everything has been working well since the chloroplast started performing photosynthesis. However, it isn't always as efficient during cloudy days.
